 SURFACE STUDIO is the world's best and largest rental inventory of real, hard surface backgrounds, created specifically for advertising, catalog, product and editorial photography and located in the center of New York City's photo district. Since its inception in 1997, every surface is made by Joseph Szilva, a fine artist who has had over twenty years of professional styling experience on commercial photo sets. In addition to more than 750 surfaces in sizes from 2' x 2' to 5' x 8', in a myriad of textures and materials unique to our inventory, we have beautiful and absolutely cleared art: paintings and sculpture, all made, owned and copyright cleared by Surface Studio. An appointment is not necessary; it is helpful to peruse our website before coming over. Surfaces are indexed by type or color, all by size. There are several pages in almost every category. Joseph and his partner and wife, Mokus de Barcza, are always happy to answer questions, help navigate the website, and make suggestions as you create your jobs! Business hours are 9 AM - 5 PM Monday to Thursday Friday 9 AM to 3:30 PM Rental period is five business days. Additional rental days are pro-rated at twenty percent per day of the original weekly rental price. Replacement value for items lost or damaged beyond repair is five times the rental price. Damaged items must be returned. Rental fee is paid in full prior to pick-up. Payment is by cash, check or credit card (Amex, MC, Visa). We provide custom-made moving blankets and wrapping.
